MFPMF is one of the constituent members of ASEAN Furniture Industries Council (AFIC) which was established in 1978 as a regional trade organisation to coordinate plans and projects that will accelerate and harmonise the growth and progress of the ASEAN furniture industry. The other member countries of AFIC include Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore. Malaysia currently holds the Chairman, Secretary General and Secretariat portfolios in AFIC for the 2015/2016 term. Myanmar is going to take on the chairmanship and secretariat responsibilities for the two-year term from 2017 to 2018, taking over from Malaysia.
